40 years of Abolition in France

Report – 2021

On October 9, 1981, the Minister of Justice Robert Badinter abolished the death penalty in the law. A giant step in the history of France, but a permanent struggle in the world since. The association Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort (Together Against the Death Penalty) wished to celebrate its 20th anniversary at the same time as the 40th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in France.

Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort (ECPM) is a reference organization in the world in the fight for the abolition of capital punishment. Chaired by Robert Badinter, the association has never stopped fighting to promote abolitionism, in constant diplomatic dialogue with the States that still apply this cruel practice.

For Agence B8, which had already collaborated with ECPM in the past, the challenge was to create a synthetic narrative and to format the numerous archives provided by the institution.

The project was produced in two versions of 10 and 2 minutes, then translated into French and English.
